Sony Cybershot DSC-T77 is a slim and stylish camera and extremely light (just 4.8 ounces). It is sure to turn heads. The pictures are excellent in well lighted conditions. But, grains appear in low light conditions. Overall features are excellent. It is very easy to use and intuitive.

Features

  • 10.1 MP
  • 4x Optical zoom
  • Auto smile detection and Face detection
  • Image stabilization (Super Steady Shot)
  • Intelligent scene selector
  • 3 inches LCD touch screen
  • Semi-manual focus

The build quality is very good. It feels sturdy. The lens is too small and has to be for the compactness and slimness of the camera. But the disadvantage is that in low light conditions, very less amount of light can pass through. Because of which the camera uses high ISO for low light photographs and high ISO makes the pictures grainy.

The DSC-T77 comes with 3 inch LCD touch screen. It removed all buttons and gave lot of space for the LCD. The touchscreen is not that responsive. The whole LCD screen is not utilized if not taking pictures in widescreen format. Because it is a touch screen and lack of optical view finder, you will need to keep switching the camera off every time not in use, to conserve the battery life. Battery life is very low for this camera. Better to invest in a spare battery.

The T77 comes with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization. The lens contains a built-in gyro sensor to detect any shake and shift the lens automatically to prevent any blur in the images. Face detection technology can detect upto eight individual faces. It can control flash, focus, exposure and white balance to give beautiful images. It can even distinguish between children and adult faces thus prioritizing the focus on children.

The DSC-T77 comes with Smile Shutter Technology which automatically detects and captures smiling faces. You need to choose the Smiley Face feature for this to work. You can even set subject priority of adult or child and also can indicate the degree of smile detection high, medium and low.

Intelligent Scene Recognition mode automatically detects eight different types of scenes and selects the appropriate settings for the image capture.

Overall the features support the high price but still more can be expected. If you choice is slim and stylish camera, this is the right one for you.
