Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 Digital Camera

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 Digital Camera

If the claims of Sony are true, this is a real breakthrough in Digital Cameras. They say their new camera Sony Cyber-shot DSC TX1 contains “Exmor R” CMOS chip that can take pictures in low light and decrease the graininess by 50%. I am all for such a camera. There is more to it, for this camera. The camera can capture High Speed burst of upto 10 fps. This is another great feature to have.

Features

  • 10 MP
  • 4x Optical Zoom
  • Face detection and Smile detection
  • Optical Image stabilization
  • HD movie shooting capability
  • 3 inches widescreen LCD
  • Intelligent scene selector

Sony always uses Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens for its cameras and this camera comes with 4x optical zoom and the macro mode (close-up shots) shots can be taken from as near as 1/2 inch. When “Anti-Motion blur mode” is chose, the camera takes six images in half a second, and combine them to come with the best picture without any blur. The camera has Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization (simply optical image stabilization) along with this digital image stabilization. It has in-built gyro sensor, that detects the shake and automatically moves the lens to avoid any blur image. Both together should remove any kind of blur in the images.

The most attractive feature of DSC-TX1, after the low light picture taking ability, is the panorama picture taking ability. You press the shutter button and sweep in the direction you want, and it takes multiple pictures, adjusts positions automatically and stitches them together to give a panoramic wide picture. It can take a panorama picture of upto 185 degrees.

You can shoot HD movie of 720px with Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 of upto 29 minutes length. The limitation is of camera’s and not your card’s. The camera can capture a max of 2 GB movie. Something weird, why they are limiting this. Nowadays you can get upto 16 GB cards, so enough space for a long movie and you photographs. Then why limit to 2GB?

The iAuto mode of the DSC-TX1 is very helpful. This is a standard feature in all current digital cameras. This helps in taking quick shots without fiddling with any adjustments. Whether it is a panorama shot, birthday event, campfire event, fast motion sports event, whatever it maybe, the camera will workout the settings required and take the best shot.

The signature feature of a Sony digital camera is the “Smile Shutter Technology”. You aim the camera at a face and press the shutter button. The shot will be taken only when the person smiles. This way you can always capture smiling faces. It is a nice feature to have, but not that necessary. We always want to take natural photos. Smiling faces are helpful for portraits.

DSC-TX1’s face detection technology can differentiate between children and adults. It can detect upto 8 individual faces and adjusts white balance, focus and exposure to deliver beautiful images of family and friends.

Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) will help in taking more natural images and clearer details that match what the naked eye sees. This is very helpful when shooting backlit portraits.

This stylish slim camera Sony DSC TX1 is an excellent buy and very good to show off
