Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 is another blockbuster camera from Panasonic. This is a steal for under $400. It comes with excellent features, a great lens with 18x optical zoom and with wide angle. At this price, there is nothing that can beat this camera.

Features

  • 10.1 MP
  • 18x Optical Wide Angle Zoom
  • Face detection
  • MEGA Optical Image stabilization (MEGA O.I.S.)
  • Intelligent scene selector
  • 2.7 inches LCD touch screen
  • Auto Focus Tracking

The DMC-FZ28’s response time is very fast and can shoot 2.5 shots per second at full resolution. If you compromise on resolution, you can shoot 13 shots per second with the High-Speed Burst mode. The FZ28 can go up to ISO 6400 in High Sensitivity mode in extremely low-lit conditions.

You can take videos and photos in High Definition (HD) format. Videos can be taken at 1280 x 720p resolution at 30 fps. Still photos can be shot in 16:9 aspect ration for better viewing on a HDTV. The Lumix DMC-FZ28 comes with 2.7 inch LCD screen and also high resolution electronic viewfinder. The reach of the Flash is 8.5 meters at the wide setting and 5.4 meters at the telephoto setting.

The DMC-FZ28 has come with a new AF Tracking feature. You can lock focus on a moving subject keeping the subject in focus without holding the shutter button halfway down. The new AF tracking also improves the Face Detection to upto 15 faces providing a continuous focus and exposure. It also comes with Intelligent Exposure, which adjusts the brightness in areas that do not have enough lighting.

The best part of Lumix DMC-FZ28 is the Leica Lens. It is a wide angle 18x optical zoom lens with Mega Optical Image Stabilization (MEGA O.I.S.). The lens contains Gyrosensors that compensate for any hand-shake by shifting the lens. This helps in preventing any kind of blurry images for little longer exposures. It also comes with Intelligent ISO that determines the right ISO and shutter speed for a moving subject automatically without any blur in the photographs.

Overall the shutter response is much better than most of the cameas, focusing is pretty quick, iA mode is very helpful and gives great pictures, the menu system is intuitive and helpful and the layout of the buttons on the camera is very well thought out.

I would give this a 5 star rating and a must buy if it meets your budget.
